A few years ago, the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) launched the slogan “It’s in our DNA,” referring to the rich heritage of the diamond city of Antwerp, which dates back to the 15th century.
For Carat Consulting, founded by Bert Van den Bosch in 2017, this is far more than a punch-line. As a fourth-generation professional in the diamond and jewellery industry, the business is quite literally in his DNA.

Bert Van den Bosch comes from a family deeply rooted in the trade. His great-grandfather was a diamond cutter, both sets of grandparents were active in jewellery retail and manufacturing, and his parents pioneered and successfully developed the wedding ring market in the BeNeLux, Switzerland and Denmark at the end of the last century. The diamond and jewellery industry has therefore always been an integral part of his life.

His passion for the luxury sector was nurtured from an early age. In the mid-1980s, at just five years old, he eagerly spent the first September weekend at the Jewellery & Diamonds Fair Antwerp (JEDIFA) at the booth of Van den Bosch & Van Ranst, engaging with customers and connecting with fellow exhibitors. During the wedding fair season in January, February and March, he supported retailers across the country—handing out brochures to end consumers well before the age of ten.

Throughout his professional career, he has experienced the luxury industry from multiple perspectives. He visited retailers across Belgium and Europe with wedding rings and certified diamonds, travelled internationally in search of exceptional diamonds and gemstones, developed new markets and wholesale partnerships for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality melee diamonds, and onboarded iconic French, German, British and Italian brands for innovative, forward-thinking RJC-certified jewellery manufacturers.

Thanks to this extensive network of industry professionals and broad international experience, Carat Consulting is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between potential partners—connecting brands with retailers and introducing brands to jewellery and diamond manufacturers.
